How long will my bathroom remodeling project take?
It is varies depend on the scope of the remodeling project. We will commit to a guaranteed finish date before you sign the contract, the completion date will be written in the contract and we will stick to it. We work together with our clients on a time table, taking into consideration all factors such as: weekends, holidays, customers needs, materials supplies etc.
Why are different rates charged by different companies?
When a price is extremely low, it is very likely that the company charging is using shortcuts with labor and/or cheaper materials. At Bay State Refinishing, we only use high quality materials for our refinishing projects, then combined with our superior labor and equipment, our customers receive refinished surfaces that look great and last for many years with the proper maintenance. The same refinishing products are not used by all refinishing companies, so the results are usually different. For instance, some companies use marine paint or epoxies on a bathtub, while others use acrylics or other industrial coatings like car paint that aren’t created specifically for bathtub refinishing. At Bay State Refinishing & Remodeling, we only use state of the art products that are specifically designed for our work and that reduce over spray as close to zero as possible. Also, the equipment that our techs use allow a safe working environment and gives them the ability to complete the job with no mess, odor or damage that is usually caused by over spray or paint mist. Our refinishing process is done with little to no disruption to the occupants in the home.

We use state of the art ventilation systems that help to remove fumes that occur during the refinishing process. You may notice a slight odor, but it will disappear in a few hours.

The two are the same thing. Both are references to the process of applying a new coat on a surface.
Is it possible for my bathtub or tile to be “re-porcelainized”?
No, in order to make your bathtub it was kiln fired at a very high temperature. Since it is impossible to re-fire the existing porcelain, you cannot have it re-porcelainized. The next best thing to having it replaced is to have it refinished.
After my bathtub or tile has been refinished, how long will it last?
Bathtubs and tiles can easily last between 5 and 10 years if you give it proper care & maintenance.
What can I do if my bathtub or countertop gets damaged?
Bay State Refinishing & Remodeling can repair small chips and cracks during the process of cleaning and preparation of the surface. If for some reason the crack or chip can’t be repaired, our technician will let you know beforehand.
Is the new coating real porcelain?
No, it is not porcelain. It is a high quality synthetic glaze, which gives it the same gloss and texture of porcelain, while offering great toughness and durability.
Can I use a do-it-yourself refinishing kit to get the same results as your service?
The products used in these kits are epoxy coatings. A small time after application, the color will turn yellow, so it does not retain color. Also, epoxy coatings are not considered to be durable and resilient like the coating we use. We use a superior coating, bonding agent and proper surface preparation to ensure that adhesion between the new and old surfaces takes place, giving our customers a glossy and resistant coating that’s guaranteed not to peel, bubble, crack or lose color. You can use the surface daily without worry, giving you many years of satisfaction when using proper maintenance and care.
Will the refinished surface cause any harm or damage to my pets or home?
Most definitely not. Since we use a venting system or window to exhaust fumes, you will not have to worry about tainted air. The fumes are gone within a few hours of finishing the process. However, you should keep pets like birds away while we’re working on your surfaces. You can take a look at our preparation & maintenance page for more info.
Do I move out of the house during the remodeling or refinishing process?
No. If you have just one bathroom we will make sure that you will have a toilet at the end of each work day. In most cases we can even give you the option to have a tub to bathe in after the first day.
