Tub and Sink Refinishing Makes Bathrooms Look New

November 19, 2013Dan Delmain

tub-bathOld and tired bathroom fixtures are such an eyesore. Your first thought might be to replace the whole lot, but that could cost a fortune. A less expensive solution is refinishing. In fact, refinishing your tub and sink can give your bathroom a whole new look for a fraction of the cost of new. Bay State Refinishing is your local choice for experience and professional bathroom refinishing in Boston.

How Does Refinishing Work?
To achieve a new looking tub and sink is a process that takes several steps, and the first step is preparation. Old caulk is removed around the fixtures, and we carefully clean and sand your items in preparation for reglazing. The fixtures are taped and masked off to protect bathroom surfaces, and high-volume ventilation exhaust units are put in place. All of this preparation is necessary before we can start the resurfacing process.

Resurfacing and Drying
The refinishing process begins when we apply a bonding agent to help the new surface adhere. Next, we apply two coats of primer with drying time between each step. The glazing process takes three coats of heavy-duty acrylic urethane paint with time for each coat to dry. Then it’s time for your new sink and bathtub resurfacing to harden and cure.

How Long Before You Can Use Your Refinished Bathroom?
Overall, the drying and curing process takes just a day or two. Within 24 to 48 hours, you will be able to fully use your sink and bathe in your newly refinished bathtub. The fixtures will look so nice and new, you might be tempted to replace your old shower curtains and rugs too! That is a great way to get a new looking bathroom without breaking the bank.

Count on Bay State Refinishing of Boston for professional and experienced bathroom refinishing. Give us a call when you are ready to resurface your old bathtub, sink, tile and more.
