Very good experience - David, Marcio and Roger made my kitchen remodel go very smoothly. Communications were excellent, guys showed up on time, questions addressed directly and very promptly. Would not hesitate to use these guys again - highly recommend
Had our bathtub refinished by Bay State. Booking the appointment was a breeze and Martha in the office was very efficient and courteous. Jose, our technician, showed up on time, worked neatly and professionally. After Jose completed, our 40 year old tub sparkled like a jewel under the light!
Once again, we could not be happier with the work of this company. We had a complete kitchen remodel last year, and quickly signed on for a complete bathroom gut and renovation. David came out to give a quote, and as usual was friendly, professional, and efficient. His team of Marcio, Rogerio, and Jonathan showed up on time each day and were extremely professional and helpful. Several times, Marcio patiently explained design options for us and always had really good recommendations. We trust these guys completely, both in terms of price and quality of work. Because the reputation of Bay State is so good, you may have to wait a little to get your project booked --- but do it. They are 100% worth the wait! We're trying to decide which project we want them to do next...:)
Excellent job remodeling my Somerville bathroom. I'm that annoying remodel customer who wants to source all their own materials and do everything in a particular way, and the Bay State workmen were completely on board: I felt that everyone went the extra mile to do the job right and get it how I wanted.
Oversize tub with a built-in candle shelf, 3 x 8' custom designed mosaic with extra lighting to match, weird cabinets, tiling around misaligned existing walls, a custom door that took two months extra to arrive -- they took it all in stride. There were some extra charges as we went along, existing plumbing that needed work and so forth, but it was not unreasonable.
Shout out to Darly -- a true craftsman, he did all the hard finish work. Yuri did a great job coordinating everyone and working around the inevitable delays. The plaster guys and plumber (whose names I didn't catch) and Jonathan the electrician all did good work and adjusted things as I liked. (The tub faucet doesn't hit me in the head, and the mosaic is lit properly -- all the thumbs up!)
So -- not the cheapest in town, but you get what you pay for and I am altogether satisfied with the job.
BAY STATE: HERO OF OUR OFFICE
RESCUED FROM A JAM-- I had hired a different contractor for my small office renovation in Beacon Hill. Everything with this other guy exploded in my face. Not only did he walk away with my money, but he also took FOUR STRUCTURAL SUPPORTS from our building with him. It was terrifying. At this point, my office renovation project had gone from challenging to near impossible and I needed some talent and dedication to fix it up.
ENTER BAY STATE--
After much research I chose Bay State to repair and completely renovate the office space.
BAY STATE DAY ONE--
Bay state shows up with a huge team of talented professionals: Plumber, electrician, architect, general contractor, HVAC, etc... And BOOM! We're back on track!
HIGHLY DETAILED PROJECT--
This was a high end project with nearly everything custom. The floors and walls were bowed in at least 3-6 inches and these guys made it into a beautiful box. At no fault of Bay State's few wrong parts were ordered, but we worked through it.
END RESULT--
We've moved in and the place is better than I had thought it could ever be!
Great job on our absolutely gorgeous new bathroom. Extremely professional with responding to all questions and concerns. We hired them for our old house and then again when we moved!
David did a fantastic job. Would recommend anytime
We are in the finishing stages of a full kitchen remodel with Bay State. I don't have adequate words to describe how responsive, professional, and reliable the team has been throughout the entire renovation. Yuri was our project manager and he is excellent. He had answers for everything, fixed problems that arose quickly and thoroughly, was responsive to and respectful of all of our questions, and was a joy to work with. Darly completed much of the work on our renovation, and his craftsmanship is impeccable. He does very high quality work and is very efficient. He even made a couple of changes to some of the finishing work without us asking, just because he knew it would look better- and he was right! I appreciated both his and Yuri's advice and expertise throughout the process. Fernando also completed some of the work on our kitchen, and his work was also high quality. Roger was our contact at the office, and he was great to work with. He was so helpful with coordinating meetings, explaining the process, and keeping the billing on track. In addition to the Bay State team, all of the people they work with (electrical, plumbing, countertops, cabinets, etc.) are top notch. Going in to this renovation I was nervous that things would go wrong, costs would get out of control, and things wouldn't turn out how I wanted--but it became apparent from the very beginning that I did not need to worry about anything with Bay State. They did an incredible job, and they stuck to the original budget and timeline. Plus, they are great guys! They clearly care about what they do and they are extremely knowledgeable and experienced. So--all this to say, if you are considering doing any renovation/remodeling project do not hesitate to call Bay State!
I've enjoyed having the team from bay state into our home. Prior to these guys we've had some less than great experiences with a variety of contractors--the classic disappearing act and general lack of communication, missed appointments, hidden upcharges, etc etc. thankfully this was not the case with Bay State.
We have young children and all the guys were friendly and accommodating with their particular needs.
We made a number of DIY moves (special pieces we wanted to procure on our own) that needed to integrate into the entire project. We were relatively high maintenance and they never acted annoyed or frustrated with issues that were on us. They discovered mold behind a wall and it messed up their schedule during peak summer and they didn't break a sweat.
Yuri is the project manager and is a good communicator --I was able to reach him even during off hours for various emergencies and questions.
Marcio seemed to be capable of building or fixing anything -- great attention to his craftsmanship. Rogelio was similarly a skilled jack of all trades and wonderful, considerate and accommodating.
Even though we're done they are willing to fix anything else that might go wrong later--they stand by their work.
I had a truly wonderful experience with Bay State! I bought my first apartment a few years ago and always knew I wanted to remodel the kitchen - it was very small and enclosed, and not my style. When I called Bay State to come out for a quote, they really understood my vision and my parameters and made me feel completely comfortable with the project. Being a first time homeowner and a younger woman, I did have some reservations about being upcharged or taken advantage of. Bay State completely quelled any hesitations I had.
They were completely entirely and on board to do my remodeling on a budget. The best part about my experience with Bay State is that we not only stayed on budget, but my kitchen looks like the farthest thing from a budget project!
Yuri, the project manager, was truly a rockstar. I was not staying at my apartment for the duration of the work, but Yuri constantly stayed in contact and was always honest about what was going on with the work, timeline, etc. Almost every job naturally has a few hiccups, but Yuri always had options to work around them and to make sure that I was 100% happy with the results. Yuri was always available by text or call whenever I had questions, and he was extremely patient with my endless questions. For a quick example of how great Yuri is, I had a very small amount of 2 walls that needed to be painted. Twice the paint store gave me the wrong color, which Yuri realized when it went up on the wall. I didn't think I'd have time to figure out what the issue was (whether I gave the paint store the wrong color, if they mixed it wrong, etc), so I told Yuri not to worry about it, and I could paint it on my own later on. When all the work was just about done, Yuri called me and said he just couldn't leave the paint like that because he wanted to make sure they took care of every last detail. They did repaint the walls the correct color, which was a minor thing but really shows how diligent and great Yuri is.
Marcio also did incredible work. There are so many little things that don't jump out at you right away, but when you do notice them, it's truly a testament to how diligent these guys are. For example, I was really impressed that they tiled pretty far up behind my corner cabinets, that probably nobody would even notice unless you purposely looked up under there. It really goes to show that they don't cut any corners. From a coordination standpoint, Roger was always available to answer my questions and was extremely helpful in giving me information about vendors, when to order materials, where to get the best deals while still getting a quality product, etc. Being on a budget and it being my first remodel, I really appreciated that guidance.
Overall, I would highly recommend Bay State for any remodeling projects. I am beyond thrilled with the result, and can't thank them enough for all of their hard work!!
